Good morning I'AM in western pa north of pitts.do any of you know a diesel mechanic that will come to farm and remove and rebuild a injector pump on this case 580ck. I have called a couple service shops they want $500 both trips to come and $800 to rebuild ..I brlive thats way too high. willing to pay fair price thank you

Put an ad on Craigslist, that is how I made contact with the mechanic that does my diesel work.He works at a dealership and has a small shop for work on evenings and weekends.
Very reasonably priced too.

the fuel pump has to be done right. I would suggest you get a manual to show you how to take it off so you can either send it/deliver it to some one to complellty rebuild it. then the manual will show you how to prime it when you put it back on. previous owner had the fuel pump rebuilt on my h4. 700 bucks. like I said you need to make sure its a place with a good guarantee and reputation. most important part of the diesel fuel system. g I remember years ago a fellow thought he knew enough to work on a fuel pump. when he installed it back on and started it it it went wide open and blew a big hole in the motor so please make sure you take it to someone who specializes in them. Good luck.

I can tell you where to take the pump but i do not know anyone that will come to your place to remove it and come back and put it on .Those days for me are over i am RETIRED somewhat . I have five OLD customers that i will still do SOME work on there equipment . Progressive diesel in New Castle has done my pump work for years . Ya may want to give Harry or Harry Jr. a call as they may know someone close . Road cal prices have gone way up along with hourly rates . The days of the 20 buck and hour and the first 25 miles FREE left a long time ago . Setting up a service truck would send the normal person into cardiac arrest to equip it with the tools and hardware .

I have talked hundreds of customers over a speaker phone through pulling a pump off. Its a piece of cake. Don't let it scare you. Put the 500 they want in your own pocket. I also can repair this pump at a very fair price. Al 231/757/0064

Tractor Vet ...... I have an old friend who retired one year ago after 45 years as a lawyer. I've known him longer than that, since 1962 actually. He made good money (like most lawyers) and charged hefty fees (like all lawyers). I never heard him complain about prices ever, not a single time, just paid whatever he was charged for guys doing things for him and he got on with his life. EXCEPT for the last year that he is no longer billing out at many hundreds and hundreds of dollars per hour. I think the going rate up here these days would be approaching $400 per hour, including phone calls which have a ten-minute minimum. Now he gripes and complains about everything from parking rates to the cost of a hot dog at a hockey game or a truck driver who brings him a load of topsoil. How soon he forgets all the people that used to get his invoices and wonder how lawyers get to charge such fees that he reaped the benefit from. I've reminded him of that .... he just moves on to another complaint .... ha!!!
