LOOKING AT A 600 CASE WITH CASE OMATIC TRANS. HASNT RAN FOR SEVERAL YEARS. ANY SPECIFIC THINGS TO LOOK, OR LISTEN FOR? HAS A CARB PROBLEM AS WAS MISSING WHEN PARKED, HAD TO HOLD CHOKE PART WAY OUT TO MAKE RUN.GENERAL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS?

so you've heard it run or your discription is what the seller told you?

are you familiar at all with CASE's? could post this in the CASE section.

not bad little tractors. big brother to the 500 and 400 (small series) and shared alot of parts. that series engine was used in alot of CASE equipment including combines, the later 430, 530, 470,570s, skid loaders and maybe some swathers

if you cannot hear it run hard to say what to listen for. check the fluid in the Case0Matic (COM) for condition and level. same with the trans and differential. if the COM is low and the trans if full (or visaversa) there may be a bad seal between the 2 letting one leak into the other.

is it stored inside or outside? if outside look for open exhaust, i also like to crack drain plugs open a bit (no not remove) enough to see if there is any water or antifreeze that might point to other problems. look for water and or gummy fuel in tank if its been sitting long. look for mice chewing up wires.

if its not running can you throw a battery on it and at least see if its stuck? being a COM you won't be able to pull start it

lots of other stuff too im sure i'm forgetting. fenders are known for rusting out. chrome pieces are expensive to replace. gage clusters are worth alot of $ if in good working order.

it will have Eagle hitch on it unless converted. will work with other standard 3pt stuff but may not lift at quite the same angle.

good luck

That engine was used only in the 350, 500-600B. It is a 164cu.in dry sleeve engine. It was a good reliable engine. I just sold our 511B to a Case friend in VA. The 511B is the same tractor as the 600B except it has a dry clutch, rather than torque converter drive.

Having to partially choke it to run is more often a fuel supply problem than a carburetor problem- at least that's the best place to start. Take the sediment bulb off, and see if you get a steady stream when you turn on the tank valve. Probably need to clean the sediment bulb inlet and the fuel tank, maybe put a little standpipe in the inlet to the sediment bulb fixture to draw gas from above the gunk on the bottom.

Friend of mine has the 630 western model for sale. Motor overhauled, transmission works as it should. Located in central Iowa. He has the hood also.
