Stuck PTO shaft day 3

So it was still holding the Ford up In the air. So I took it down flipped it over so the female end was down and cut a slit down one side of it. Ended up with a 17 inch slit and I used a thin flat on one side chisel and opened up one side of the slit. Had to open it up 14 inch before the Ford dropped the 2 or 3 inch I had it up In the air as extra pull. Once I had it apart I could tell that the ATF had not gotten few far as to letting it soak. Cleaned up the male part and check to see if by using parts of both shaft have one long enough to work. Appears it may if I put on an ORC which I have just need to get a roll pin for it. If I remember right the roll pin is a 3/16 and 2 inch but not for sure on that

Hey young fella, I thought that you always advocated the 50-50 mix of ATF and Acetone for getting stuck parts apart.

Ok OLDMAN I would love to see you find one single time I said ATF and acetone. I have NEVER said that and I am getting very annoyed with people saying that I did when I have NEVER ever said any thing about using acetone any place EVER.

Now I had said a mix of ATF and turpentine a few times when freeing up a diesel engine. BUT NEVER ACETINE AND ATF

Well the size of the roll pin is why I sort of asked since as I said I cannot remember for sure. I do not know of one single tractor I have that I have ever installed an ORC on since I use tractor where an ORC might be needed on many I do not need due to live PTOs

Well it you where to check the archive you would see where I have said ATF and turpentine a few times but not all that often but never acetone and ATF
Thanks

Hey Young fella, I just made a casual comment. Your response seems a little strong.

Well Old man all I was doing was telling you the truth and I do not like people putting or trying to put things in my mouth. I have NEVER said to use ATF and acetone and would like people to stop saying I do or did say that because it is a lie and could also be said to be slander

Well there ya go, the acetone thins out the atf so it will flow into tinier places.

Kinda like gasoline will go thru a crack in a tank, yet testing with just water, the water will not.

Ah but with all the heating I did the ATF not only would get thinner it was in an area that when it got hot it also built up pressure. Had a spray of ATF spray out of the grease fitting a few times and that was not enough to force it where it needed to go

Could there have been water down in there preventing the atf from going in further?.
Then when you heated the area, the water turned to steam and pushed the atf back out.
I do not think atf is going to expand like water will, but maybe.

Side note:
If I push and pull side ways on a pto shaft assembly, how much movement due to wear in the sliding area is "okay" ?

So old what do you think happened to it.... Just rust together? Twist together and lock up? Sounds like quite an adventure these past few days!

From every thing I can it was just one of those cases where it NEVER was greased and when unhooked slid in almost as far as it could be and left to the weather. NO signs what so ever of grease any place other then the ends where I had put ATF etc. to it. Sides of male half where black in color and hard and pitted badly. Even with the split I did to the female part of it and after cleaning up the male part I could not put the 2 together. Could not even get the 2 past an inch or so and that was with the female part covered with a good coating of grease
