Water pump installation question

Got my water pump installed on my Massey 1080. Bought a replacement for $120 at local shop. Rebuild kit was $96 online. Seemed like a no-brainer. Hoses and t-stat finally showed up today so I can finish up.

The new pump came with two threaded plugs near where the hoses go. They are screwed in with a large Allen wrench. When the pump came they were not threaded in tightly.

I assume they should be tightened for installation?

Should I put pipe dope or tape on the threads before tightening?

Thanks.

You lucky guy! I got a remanufactured pump for a MF 180 where the plugs were siezed. Needed one removed for installation. I couldn't budge it. Took it back to parts place and they couldn't get it even with a 3/4 impact wrench. Guess they resorted to a huge pipe wrench. Was only one available in whole country wide network. The core was pretty valuable. Clearly remain shop didn't remove plugs when they rebuilt it.

Ok. So 2 more question. 1 stupid, 1 informative

1. How do I get coolant back into the block? Just fill radiator, run up to temp and re-check?

2. What do I do with old water pump? Is there a place to sell cores?

just fill radiator warm up recheck {{{{{{{{{DO NOT REMOVE CAP WHEN HOT }}}}}}}}}}}}or it will burn you {{{{{{DO NOT REMOVE CAP WHEN HOT}}}}}}}}}}}} when you top it of and you get it hot it will push a little out the over flow till it reaches it's own level which will be down about a inch or two
