Stuck PTO shaft day 2

So I had the Allis C hanging in the air out the shaft all last night and still In the air this afternoon. So I fired up the Ford to get it out of the way then let the C down and fire it up and drove it out of the shop. I then drove the Ford in and lifted the rear of it up off the ground and it is hanging there right now. Ford has a heavy duty back blade and 6 85lbssuit case weights on the blade and a 150lbs wheel weight on the center link area of it and one rear tire filled with fluid. Heated it up as hot as I could to the point ATF was coming out the grease fitting and catching fire. I have hit it with hammer and all but still hanging there. Guess I'll cut a slit down the female part and that way I can get the male part out and at least save it. I may try welding the slit back closed and see how that works

More than likely, both male and female shafts have twisted, or have lots of ware so they have locked up. Sounds like you need a new shaft, both male and female.

I kinda agree with the Case guy. How much time does one spend trying to fix something, only to have it not work properly in the end? At some piont, it may be cheaper to bite the bullet and get a new shaft. I do appreciate your efforts, though!
Ben

Before I ever replace any thing I do my best to repair and save what I can. I've put off this finish mower fix for a long time so will just keep playing at it

Well; I guess you will have to chain the implement end to a tree, and the tractor end to the drawbar of your IH tractor rather than the loader bucket and give it a yank!!! Hope if it comes loose it does not whack you in the back of your head, if it comes apart.

Before I would ever try a tree and the bigger tractor I'll cut a slit in the outer part and the maybe if I am lucky and the inner part will be long enough that I can use the short female with the long female and have a working PTO shaft. If I where to hook to a tree I would never jerk it but use a steady pull but figure the ford in the air is more pull then the tractor would do but not sure which would be more.

I could probably get one but I hate to when I have this one on hand and yes I know it may take a bit of work but hey my time is free. What do I have to loose any how. If t was one of the old square type I'd have it working already but these newer triangle ones seem to like to lock up if not kept well lubed and not over horse powered which on this shaft I have no idea of either

Aw; time to go for broke. You got better things to spend your time on.
Yesterday me and the wifey made 11pts. of salsa, and today she made 17 qts., of V8.5 juice, while I got my 1957 CASE dozer ready for a guy to come and buy tomorrow.

Here lately I have pretty much been trying to figure out things to do. Hay is not ready for a 2nd cutting. No jobs I have to do for others. No extra $$ to just go out and waste driving around etc.

Hey there old, do you have any 5 gallon buckets full of nuts and bolts to sort out? You said you were looking for things to do. Usually that will take up some time. He he he

have you put a block of wood on the yoke and tried to drive the shaft shorter just a hair? sometimes this will be just enough to break the rust loose a bit. doesn't have to be a 1/4 inch or so to help it free up. As the others have said, if it's twisted, it's scrap

No incentive to look for work as long as a disability check is deposited in your bank account every month would be a more honest statement...

I know this is gonna ruffle yer feathers you made the statement I did not...

Not my choice to not work for a living it was doctors choice and once a doctor say you cannot work to do so can get a person in very big trouble. But one can in fact work on the side and be 1000% legal look it up if you do not believe me before you attack. What I do is legal and I do not slander others like you do

Now that is just down right crude and harmful. What did I ever do to you to deserve an attack like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HMMMM, I know 3 people of SS disability and they are allowed to work as long as they are not involved in substantial gainful activity. In other words they can't make more that 1180 bucks a month. Same is true for Vets rated at 100% or declaired "unemployable" and rated at 70% being paid at 100%. BIL is in the VA unemployable thing. He works enough to make about 900 a month. He has to report his earning to VA once a year.

Yes, a person getting SSD can In fact work but can only make X number of dollars per month and not effect there pay. But if a doctor does not sign off as to doing a type of work one can run into problems. My self I can do a lot still but I have to also take a lot of breaks and I have yet to find some place that will let me work an hour then take a break for an hour or so which is how I have to do things. To know how it is and how it is for any person you have to be able to walk a mile or more In there shoes which seem no one ever wants to do or understand

I also have service connected problems from my time In the navy and still fighting the V.A. over a fall down a conning tower ladder back in 1977

My post wasn't meant to "attack", I was just making a joke about doing something to take up time. You had said you basically had time on your hands. Sorry to have offeneded you.

Well I like many retired people have a lot of time on there hand to pretty much do nothing so I enjoy making things work when I have been told I cannot do so. I have ben told many times something would not work but I did it any how and made it work just because I was told I could not do so

Nope, I checked, you can work, maybe not the type of work you like but you can work. So sell it to someone who is gullible enough not to fact check you. Only time the doc comes into play is if there are physical requirements to meet. Well there are other jobs. I know of one, pay is like 12 an hour. They will provide a stool if needed. Just running a cash register. Or you could be a Walmart greeter. So sell those wolf tickets to someone else. May not be what you want....so pull up yer big boy pants and deal with it.
