Bushhog 2615L hydraulic hose sizing-JD 2755

My rear tire caught my hydraulic hose that goes to the lift cylinder on my Bushhog 2615L. My tractor is a JD 2755. The broken hose is 1/4 ID and 15 feet long. I would like to step up one hose size hoping that the lift cylinder might go up and down a little bit faster.

If I go up one size do you think the cylinder might operate faster?

No, there should be a small lever on the back side of the valve body that regulates flow . Turn it to the right to increase flow

I had a little incident (fire) on my 2615l and I replaced mine with all 1/2 inch hose. Dont remember if I changed fitting on cylinders or if they had larger ends on the small hose from the factory.

How fast does your cylinder fully extend/retract? One second is pretty fast,on mine, I had them set about one third of the way open for about a one and a half second speed. You could use a smaller bore cylinder.

(quoted from post at 21:34:16 08/25/18) They are wide open.

Have you ever checked stand-by pressure? You could safely set stand-by pressure to 2350 psi which will help cylinder extension/retraction speed over factory setting of 2250 psi.

Are you sure there is no flow restrictor in the line or at the cylinder. Often just looks like a washer with a small hole like about 1/8th inch or less. If it is in there you could open it up just slightly to improve speed.

Unless you have a very large lift cylinder on it the difference will theoretically equate to about a half of a second faster.

Probably not enough bang for the buck for the more expensive hose and fittings.
