Anybody seen anything from him lately? I don't remember seeing anything since he was upset about not being able to retire. I can sympathize. Hope he's doing OK despite such a disappointment.

I was wondering about him the other day. I became confused with his retirement post. Couldn?t get my head around his issues, tax liability I think.
At some point, I think you have to bite the bullet , and just do what you want. Hard to retire from a life of hard work if you work yourself to death. Hope he is doing well.

I think the issue was that he had made enough money this calendar year that if he started drawing social security it was going to be taxable. I started drawing at age 66 (full retirement age) and continued to work, so paid tax on 85% of the SS money. So what? Income is income. But its a little more of a problem if you're less than full retirement age (they withhold some of your SS), so maybe that was the situation. Or the other possibility could be his tax advisor- many of them think its a fate worse than death to pay a little income tax.

He's only 62. I can tell you personally,if you didn't have a job with a good pension so SS is only a small part of retirement income, you're skrewd if you think you can retire at 62. I had ideas about it too until I saw how the deck was stacked against it.

I started getting SS at 62. Made over the limit, got cut of for 5 months in 17-18, Went over so proably get cut off again late this year. But medcaide payments will keep having to be paid so just have to keep a paying job.

I was lucky to fall into a civil service job at just the right age. I retired when I was 54. I'm 60 now. Part of my retirement is made up of disability payments. Not the best way to retire, but I'm making out okay.
