Holes in Lift Arm

Let me embarrass myself a bit....this is the lift arm on my 1959 Massey 65....cat 1.....what would those two holes be used for?

Hmmm....mounted scuffler? Lifting the 3 pth would lift the scuffler gangs attatched to it.Ben

I have seen a piece that bolted in these holes and pointed down, to which a rod was connected. This rod went to front mounted cultivators to raise and lower them. I have driven this set up.

Interesting and makes sense...both arms have the holes ...so there could be two rods, or a single rod...I'm guessing...

They made front mount cultivators for those, I had a set. Lift rods should pick up the front gangs from there.

In this area a scuffler is used for weed control in a standing row crop, such as
corn. They are also called row crop cultivator or mounted cultivator, never heard
them referred to as scarifiers

On this site is only place I have ever heard the word scuffler.

Never heard the word scufflers before I heard it here.......seems like an apt name though.
I remember back in the 40s when I was a kid, the Town Walters truck pulled a scarifier to dress up all the dirt roads back then.
Sorta like a grader with a "york" rake under it.
