Hydraulics won't go up when in gear

Still having issues with my hydraulics on my to30. When its in gear, they won't raise up, but when I put it in neutral, they will go both up and down by moving the lever..... I'm stumped!!!

I might be asking a stupid question but are you letting the clutch out and letting the tractor move while trying the hydraulics when it is in gear???? The PTO shaft has to be turning for the hydraulics to work.

it dose not have live hyd. tractor must be moving or in neutral for the three point to work

Hyd pump is driven off the PTO and because of that the clutch and PTO has to be in gear and pedal up or NO hyds simple as that. A simple example is do this. Put the PTO in gear then let up on the clutch and move the 3 point control. 3 point will lift. then lower it and hold the clutch down and will l3 point will not lift.

Well, as I stated when I bought this tractor just a few weeks ago, I'm a newbie. First tractor I've ever owned in my life. Just bought it to maintain my gravel driveway. So I hope you all got a chuckle from my lack of knowledge about the workings of the hydraulic system! I know my son in law did! Yes, I was doing it wrong! But I'll take lack of knowledge over a repair bill any day of the week. Thanks to those that posted on my post. I'm sure I'll make you laugh again sometime soon. Thanks guys! Have a good day.

Not laughing at you, just explaining how it works.
We all started somewhere.
Grab the operator's manual for your tractor and read it.
There's a lot of useful information in there on lube, adjustment,
etc. and some little stuff like this hydraulic question, where to
attach/pull from and other safety related instructions.
Enjoy the new tractor and keep it safe!

I thought that on a TO 30, unlike a 9N/8N, that the PTO did not have to be turning for the lift to work. Just have the clutch out. I know a 35 is this way.

Think the 9N, 2N, to 20 &to30 all used the same pump and pto parts. Parts of Harry's design the reason Henry had to comer up with something different for the 8N. The to35 is an entirely different tractor than a to30.
