I've got a dumb question. Every time I post, it always double posts. I can find no place to reply from except in some one else's post. Also, I can only use modern view, because I can't get logged in on traditional view. I tried at least 20 different times to remedy the situation to no avail. That was at least a year or two ago. I can go to modern view and I don't even have to log in!! I'm already there! How could it recognize me in one and not in the other?

I've never had a problem. I only use modern also, because the other one sux!
I know it you click twice it will double post. Not sure why it would otherwise. Maybe go down to Site comments and see if YTSupport has any ideas.

The two systems don't always talk well. In
regards to double posts, clocking Pat twice
will do that. In regards to the broken
responses, it has to do with how classic
archives stuff. Once it drops off the
active sheets in classic any responses
can't find the original topic to connect
to, so it creates a new topic. Modern works
differently, so that is why it didn't break
there. In regards to logging in, that's
just funky.

At least that's how I understand Chris's
comments about these topics in the past.

You can hit the "reply" button, then get rid of the short quote above.
Or hit the "quote" button, and remove the long quote.

Or leave either and add you post to either.

I too am always logged into Modern View, [u:ae14961519]because[/u:ae14961519] I clicked the "log me on automatically each visit" box upon sign in.

Classic View log-in [u:ae14961519]does not[/u:ae14961519] give you a "log me on automatically each visit" box upon sign in.

And the really weird and bad part of having both Modern View and Classic View forums, is that not all posts made in a Classic View thread will show up in the Modern View of the same thread.

Only use classic because modern sux. When they brought out modern they lost some functions in classic that I can no longer find on either. Wish they would never have brought out modern. It seems as tho all posting problems come from modern. I have been on here more than 20 years as of now. And I have only loged in one time years ago, do not have to do it ever again. I just do not log out. And the system will usually reconize a double post and not accept the second.. They have said that if you are too fast on clicking on post it will do that. Or if you change a single thing in as much as put a period in it reconizes it as a new post.

I didn't have any problem with double posts until 5 or 6 months ago. Post something, come back to it hours later and it would post again.

I have no "reply" button to push except the one in the upper right hand corner on someone else's post.

I'll try to eliminate the "short quote" as was suggested by Double 007. and see how that works. Thanks

(quoted from post at 09:28:43 08/18/18) I've been logged into classic since 2011....never re-logged.

I was for years, but I went to Windows 10 and have never been able to get on Classic view since. I talked to Cris about it and I tried every conceivable method to get on and it finally basically told me to buzz off and don't come back (not Cris). So just for the heck of it I tried modern view with the same user name and password and it went right through!! Go figure!

You're better off. 18th century Classic is so old it's amazing it even works at all. If you read Site comments, YTSupport is basically keeping it alive with the digital equivalent of baling wire and duct tape! Who knows how long that will continue.
