KING wood stove/circulator condition?

How do I tell the condition of this King wood stove/circulator? It is for sale near me for $150 and I am considering it for my shop.

I need a heat source for this winter as I rebuild my old tractor. Insurance is ok with any stove as long as it is UL approved. The owner said he had to replace a grate in it when he bought it and is now getting old enough that the gas heat is easier on him.

I have not seen it in person yet but I know it is an old stove as my dad bought a new one in the early 80’s that was just like it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If it has shaker grates and fire brick, it should be okay for your garage. In fact you probably could burn coal in it.

I had a small wood/coal "parlor stove", shaped tall and narrow. I guess originally it was used to heat the front parlor. I
used it for years in my back shop, 12'x18' and not insulated, worked well with wood or coal. Just fired it up before doing
some work out there. I replaced it with a small 20,000 BTU natural gas furnace/heater, insulated the roof and have used that
ever since. When it gets real cold (and that happens up here) I can't seem to get the warmth out of the gas heater like the
old one kicked out. I'd flip back but I sold the old stove. And I know that 20,000 BTU's isn't much of a furnace, I think
our gas barbeque is 80,000.

It looks in good shape the the age. The left sid shows some distortion. Likely normal heat bending but may be leaking air which
Would not help in controlling fire. I would put a strong light in there and look for any air gaps

I got one just like that, but not near as nice.I bought it from a neighbor who up graded-only gave $20 for it.It was well used, and I use it in my garage/shop area.I can't say much about checking it other than as the others posted.Works great for me.Mark.

Check the fire bricks see if they are cracked an how bad. Check the Cast Iron for warpage. Are there good gaskets on the door? It looks pretty good in the pictures.

I went and looked at the stove. Those photos were taken years ago, must have been when he first got the stove. It looked like it had been badly abused. Everything was wrong with it. Thanks for the replies.
