Something to be said about JD balers

A friend and neighbor just got a new round baler this summer. I'm not sure the number but it's a new model,has the crop cutter as well beautiful machine. The straw crops are really heavy this year in places. He baled behind a JD 9660 WTS with a 20' header ,got 5.7 bales per acre and did just over 45 5' bales an hour for 8 hours straight. Now that's making bales!

It's used as bedding for dairy cows.

I have used (as a farmer) and repaired (as a mechanic) many JD balers over the last 25 yrs. I remember the comment from a customer one day (custom baler) who said of his 467, "they've got this right", and I agree. This same operator could average close to 50 bales/hr with that 467, have ridden with him when he would make a bale a minute.....they have great capacity.

Philip maybe u can go on hurst auction they have a straw blower on their online auction will handle a 6 x6 bale its not close but it was bringing squat last time I looked.

Ditto JD 467 is by far the best JD rd baler I've owned having put a total of 57,000+ bales on two different 467 balers. Since I'm in the twilight yrs of my hay baling career I think owning a new rd baler isn't going happen. If you need a JD 467 & newer rd baler to gobble more hay especially drier type Coastal Bermuda hay just add some 14'' round rods on each end of metal starter roll between original rods & put 3 or 4 weld dots on the backside of each rotor finger then dry hay virtually stops running up belts in front of baler BTDT..
