Magneto on a 1930 D

Getting ready to rebuild my magneto. It's a Wico type AP and needs some real attention. It is a short lug mag. While doing research I'm kinda thinking its not the original mag. I have access to a Wico XH base mount long lug that is in really good shape but not sure if it will work. Will this magneto work? Thanks Brett

Long lug won't bolt up unless you have a spacer for it. I have a hot Edison Splitdorf that should work. What all went wrong with the AP?

teddy52food,
First of all, I don't think it the original mag which really doesn't matter and the rotor cap has been off for some time. The end of the rotor and just inside the mag is ugly. The rotor is pretty heavily pitted and I'm afraid a set of point wouldn't last long riding on the pitted cam lobes . I've wired brushed the cam lobes best I could and they are still rough. So instead of spending money on this mag I thought I'd get a C or X type in better shape to replace it. Like I said I found a long lug XH and was wondering if anyone has switched out a short lug for a long lug. The part number that John Deere has for this is AD 2621 R. I still haven't found out what type or series this is yet.
