Probably OK, but I stayed back.

Following this tractor trailer up Chester Gap and it had me a bit concerned. That one bar holding everything in place. I guess they are made for that but still.

I got behind a box truck once that had the back door painted to look like the door was open and boxes were falling out. I thought it was pretty clever although a bit alarming at first. Definitely a good way to get somebody's attention.

The rollers on the tips of the forks hang on the bottom pallet slats that hold the pallet jack (probly) enough but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it staying going up hill on a bumpy road. I have a problem pulling our pallet jack out from under some pallets from my wheelchair.

I was behind a flatbed semi once. Had a piece of round steel rod on it about 2" thick and maybe a foot long. Just rolling back and forth loose. Tried flashing lights, honking horn, and waving to get him to stop, but I'm sure (if he saw me at all) he thought I was just impatient to get around him, which I was. He finally made a turn, slowly enough the rod didn't fall off, and I went on my way...

I once followed a hellenbrand glass truck that had the back door open and a very large piece of glass slowly sliding out the back. As soon as I could, I got up next to him and yelled to him about his issue. He was very careful about stopping!

I ran snow plow for 15 years or so, one day during a nasty snow storm I was heading back tot he hyard for another load of sand,, a CAT parts delivery truck that makes runs every day to the local coal mines turned off the main hwy in front of me, I seen something come off the bed and hit the road and went Sliding about 80 feet down the road and came to a stop,, I stopped and looked to see what it was it was a 10' long 1" x 8" cutting edge,, think it was for a 988 loader but forget for sure now,, my partner who drove truck on the same route helped me get it on my snow plow and then I used it to lift it high enough we could slide it in my buddy truck box,, these were twin screw KW's were running and getting that 300lb plus chunk of slick Cold iron loaded on a major hwy was no fun,, we took it to the Cat dealer and they hardly said thank you even,, I was like gee we busted our butts to get it back and save the State plow trucks from hitting it and thats all you can say? he did offer us each a cat hat,,, like we did not have boxes full of them already lol

If pallet jack is under pallet and jacked up right it can't roll out from under pallet and the load bar is help holding it in place.

Is probably a lot safer than these folks who have a pickup bed full of 'stuff' and no tailgate. I once saw a 1-ton with flatbed (no side rails) that had an air compressor and spare tire just sitting. I couldn't see that either were the slightest bit secured. Wife wanted me to back way off, but I figured if I'm that close, I'm getting around that guy!

I ran LTL freight for 38 years and if done right it will stay in place on the roughest roads. I do go along with the door should have been closed. The roll up on most trailers won't stop a heavy object if it gets loose and starts rolling around in back of trailer.

Not to worry boys, he was only going 2 1/2 miles ....... ha, reminds me of a post earlier in the weekend about all of that. Just yankin' a chain or two so keep your shorts on. I think the fellow down below (Billy Shafer) has given the best response in this thread which covers it pretty well.

A number of years ago there was a pickup truck down the road from us that had a complete big block v8 that slid out the back of truck in
the middle of highway and ended killing several people in the car that hit it.

(quoted from post at 10:17:43 08/06/18) If pallet jack is under pallet and jacked up right it can't roll out from under pallet and the [b:c50c3ad79b]load bar is help holding it in place[/b:c50c3ad79b].

Appears in the pic that the bar is forward of the jack handle.

I drive a box truck like that every day. I do try to remember to lower the door, but sometimes I forget. I have a pallet jack and a load lock and leave the pallet jack just like that with the handle turned to one side, then the load lock. I jack the pallet jack just enough to pin the jack under the skid. I have jacked it just enough to let the pallet move, but it has never got out the door. Even a pallet of softener salt once, they weigh 2500 pounds. It cracked the panels on the door, but never got out. When that happened, that is when I started turning the handle. Then the pallet can only go from side to side....
