World population growth

Interesting information.

But you’ll notice that’s they are all just timed counters. I’m sure the data is based on something. But this being a “live” feed is a bit of a stretch.

Had to take a class in college called humanity in food we studied gmo and how they work if people would actually take the time to learn there and actually believe science instead of anti ag goons organic wouldn?t even be a thing we had to do a bunch of research on world population and food supply it was neat to see .

What part of feeding the world don't you understand? The part about the American farmer? You know, the guy who only produces about 45% of the worlds food supply? Not really feeding the world now are you? Especially sense there are millions of acres of farm land in the US that has been idle for decades. Or is the part where farmers are growing so much they have trouble getting rid of it at a profit? Or is it the part where farmers are producing so much that they are burning on our highways? Or don't you understand that in many places where they are actually hungry that the vast bulk of food sent as aid never gets to the people who need it. Corrupt government and military officials seize it and see it on the open world market to make a profit.

Plus add in the hundreds of millions of acres of unused farmable land around the world?

Now look at how you are starting out to convince GMO's are safe. Starting out with the feeding the world statement do you expect anyone to believe anything you are going to say? Something anyone can easily fact check? Once you get caught making false statements no one will listen.

Don't get mad. I'm not saying GMO's are safe or unsafe.

My job isn't to feed the world. My job is to feed my family and give them a chance to have a good future. In my opinion, the best way for me to achieve my goal is to farm organic.

You think you can do your job by running thousands of acres, be my guest. Don't give me this garbage that feeding the growing population is my job. That's just Syngenta's tag line to sell nematacides. Frankly, I'd like to see the population shrink a fair bit. I'd rather see 1 or 2 billion happy healthy people than 7-10 billion fighting, struggling, starving people.

I sprayed GMO crops for hire for ten years. My knowledge is becoming fast outdated because I haven't been in the industry for 8 years, but I know more about spraying than most guys here. That isn't my idea of a good life.

WOW that's pretty dark considering the a lot of people dying is the only was to really shrink a population.

Why is it dark? If each woman limited herself to 1 or 2 children, the population would naturally lower to a couple billion within 100 years.

OK that way isn't as bad as the other but who gives you the right to tell someone how large a family to raise as long as they can afford to do so?

I never said I have the right to that. It’s already happening on its own. It was recently reported that women are down to 62 live births per 1000. They’re doing it voluntarily as they have access to a good education and birth control. Couple that with the scarcity of really good paying jobs that will support a family of any size on a single income, women are making a choice of smaller families all on their own. I know of very few people my age that have more than 1, 2 or 3 kids. 4 or 5 kids for a person under 40 these days is an outlier where it was common 50 years ago.

So yeah, hopefully the world population will naturally go down on its own over the next hundred years. Otherwise, it’s gonna go down through disease, war, starvation, etc.

AH but that's here. Where the problem is are areas where 1: the people lack education and 2: access to birth control. So while in Europe and here they populating may drop to zero growth in other areas they are going to make up for it.

Rick

That’s average global live births for women aged 15 to 44. Developed nations are lower and developing nations are higher. Still, not my job to feed them. This “feed the world” line is just an advertising pitch from the corporations that sell chemicals and seed.

Here's my 6 cents worth.

Human global population WILL be regulated, one way or another.

The blue ball will eventually reach its human carrying capacity, and after that the regulation will be enforced by nature, not by man. I will go out on a very short limb and say that IF we allow the natural method of reducing human population - it will not be nice, nor pretty, nor fun.

I will also opine that once nature takes its course in reducing human population, the lower economic, and lower cultural states(countries, regions) will be hit with excruciating harsh reduction. i.e. - If one lives in central China, or central or N Africa, or the interior of India(as they stand today) one will have a very rough time of it. At some point, nations will stop giving/selling their resources to places of famine or pestilence or disease, as they will need to look out for their own state needs first.

ZPG is one of the most onerous discussions we can have as a planet. Pretty much every nations has some form of 'you first' mentality about it. The US might be stagnant on births, but that doesn't mean we aren't growing our population, as we import far more people than other nations.

I've heard ball park numbers of human carrying capacity tossed around at 12-24 billion. Maybe if we get very creative, we can up that to 30 billion.

The most important thing to know is this; World population in 1800 ~.94 billion. In 1900 ~ 1.65 billion. In 2000 ~6 billion. Scary when graphed. Again - we need to fix it, or nature surely will.

Oh, I agree with this feed the world nonsense. Not even close to being true.
