A nice day to play around mowing in July [with pics]!

Had the day off today so felt like it was a good time to put the old AC 160 mower on and give the old girl a workout for a few hours.

Amazing how small it looks down in the bottom of the valley between the trees here.

Not to be left out, I took the other one out for a drive when I was done.

I've never run a pull type, afraid it would get destroyed on the rocks and rough terrain...also a little hard to trailer. I had my 6080 out the last two days as it was hot out. Today I was shredding reed/canary grass as tall as the air cleaner. It didn't seem like the AC was keeping up, but sweated it out. I got out at the end and took a look at the compressor...it wasn't even running! Then I saw the loose wire hanging there...some weed must have caught it...maybe even yesterday :-( Also had a flat on the front yesterday, good thing I carry a spare.

way cool, never had a Allis but have always liked the way they looked. A friend of mine had some and are good tractors.

Bob Harvey -- Thanks!! They have served me well. I've owned the one with the mower on it since 2012, and the one in front of the bean patch since... The early 90s.

carvel minnie farmer -- Thank you; I am always impressed with how well these mowers cut down weeds and small brush but practically act like a finish mower on a regular yard.

Traditional Farmer -- Indeed, a real pleasure to run. Just wish I could find some spare blades for it.

Eldon (WA) -- Just an occasional tree root, log or brick/stone here... Sometimes enough to engage the rattle clutch, sometimes enough to knock it around a bit. Nice lookin' 6080! Nothing fun about sweatin' it up in a cab with no AC and all the windows shut!

larry@stinescorner -- Thank you sir! Even went out again today to do a bit more mowing. Nice to have some cool high-70s weather to play around in for summer.

tomstractorsandtoys -- Thanks; they seem to handle the mower quite well, and the hand clutch can make some chores with it quite nice to deal with. Those Deere 407s look not too far off from these AC 160s!

8NHENRY -- Indeed, I've always liked the look of the Allis series. Especially the WC (styled & unstyled), WD, and WD-45 series. Been very pleased with mine over the years.

NEKS -- Oh my, it almost looks like your front tires are in the air! Optical illusion I am sure, but impressive.
