Perkins Diesel engine on a White 2-85. Getting oil in the radiator but not oil in the water. Would this be caused from the oil cooler ? what tests can be done to verify failure ? thanks for help

Yes it could easily be the oil cooler. The oil pressure is 40-60 PSI where the water is only 10-13 PSI. So a leaking in the oil cooler is going to push oil into the water.

I can also be a head gasket too. Hope that it is the cooler.

By taking the cooler off plug one hole on the oil side of the cooler. Then with a plate and a valve stem you can add air as you heat the cooler in a pan of water. You need to heat it to get it to leak. I had an oil cooler that would not leak till it was heated. Just put the container with the water where you can heat it with the torch or some such manner. DO NOT use PLASTIC as the container. Then apply air to see it bubble if it leaks. IF not, then probably the head gasket.
