I have a mf-35 perkins diesel I want to replace a generator with a 1 wire alternator does not have the tach drive since it is a diesel. how do I wire it up? thanks Michael

If the wiring is in good condition, and you want to keep the amp meter, use a #10 wire to connect the alternator to the "BAT" wire on the regulator. You can leave the regulator and use the terminal as a convenient place to connect the alternator wire. Or cut and splice the wires together. The regulator can then be removed.

If the wiring is not in good condition, and you don't care about the amp gauge, simply connect the alternator to the battery with a #10 wire. I prefer to connect at the battery side of the starter solenoid to keep the connection away from the corrosive environment of the battery.

Not sure what the original polarity was, but when changing to an alternator, the system MUST be negative ground! If you do have to reverse the polarity, and want to keep the amp gauge working properly, the wires will need to be reversed on the back of the amp gauge.
