Yanmar YT 347

Recently purchased YT 347. Not much out on the net about these. I do all my own service work and now have 45hrs on this tractor. It is time for my first service. Anybody that has one of these ever done a service himself? It is still under warranty. Maybe this first complete service I should take it back to the dealer. I learn about these tractors by doing them myself. ( Most of my service work is done on tractors 20-50years older). Any comments or help would surely be welcomed.

That sounds pretty similar to our JD 4600, engine anyhow, and I have always done all my own service work, that's all it's needed in 1065 hours. I used JD 5-30 oil for the first few years, then I switched to Delvac 15-40. I have changed the hydraulic oil twice and the coolant once, need to do that again soon. I think if you follow the owners manual, use supplies purchased at the dealer when it's under warranty, and document everything you do it's fine. We have very seldom had to use the warranty on anything.

I do believe I'd take it back to the dealer. Keep all paperwork. That way there should be no problems when it came to any warentee work.

thanks guys for your comments. I have decided to buy everything from the dealer and do the service myself. When talking to the service dept. the Yanmar rep showed up. We talked on speaker phone and he said the industry in general are losing hy pumps because guys like me are trying to save a few bucks on after market parts. As an example, the aftermarket guys may change the micron rating on filters and slowly wipe out our pumps. Some models of all color tractors could be more prone to an improper oil change than others. He was older with hands on experience and he says the industry has changed dramaticly over the years. This new tier 4 engine is bullet proof but the rest of the tractor (any color) are not built like they used to be. Old school practices do not fly on the new technology. Its hard for me to move forward. Thanks again
