Like pretty much all American made tractors from that era, the SC is a postive ground. That doesn't necessarily mean that your tractor is though but if it is the same as when it left the factory, it's positive ground.

Usually the "opening" size of the two battery cable lead terminals will tell you how it was when last used. The larger opening one is for the positive battery terminal and if it is wired as original, then the other end of that cable should be grounded somewhere on the tractor (the frame or chassis or maybe the mounting bolts for the starter, etc). The cable with the smaller opening at the end is the negative one and it should head to the starter itself or to the heavy duty starter button on the dash. Not sure what kind of starter button system the SC models used.

Relax Tuba ...... you're gonna have a hernia. First one I've ever heard of with that from that era, even cars and trucks were pretty much positive ground back in the day. Please accept my heart felt apology ....... you gonna be OK?

(quoted from post at 15:47:51 07/06/18) Is a 1943 SC Case tractor negative ground or positive ground.

Thanks
20advance

20advance I have a 1959 case 310b and it came positive ground, checked the manual (wiring diagram) and it shows pos. ground. I haven't made any changes as the tractor hasn't gave me any trouble so far.

Your tractor was built in Rock Island, IL. All Case ser. tags say Racine WI. Not made in Racine WI regardless of were they were built. Va series, small 100 series, small 30 series were built in Rock Island and were pos ground the bigger letter series were built in Racine along with the big 400 and up and the larger 100 b series and 30 series and were neg. ground. Early 630 was built in Rock Island and late ones were built in Racine.
