20 mule team

A group of people out west made a exact replica of the borax 20 mule team wagons.
It was in the 4th of July parade in Washington DC last year. (2017)
That is what made me think of it today.

Does anyone know any more about it?
Do they have a schedule of other appearances?
Has anyone seen it in person?

Go on U'tube and type in 20 mule team. You will have close to twenty hours of viewing. So much information youre head might explode. Shows them building them, every nut and bolt. Also them playing with the wagons. Monsters!!!

A group of guys ran a 20 mule team from Death Valley to eastern South Dakota in early 60's. I would guess that to be about 2000 miles.

The wagons might weight the 10 tone but loaded they were more like 60,000 each then the water tank wagon. Engles coach I think it is in MT that did the rebuild of the wagons.
For some more big wagon hitches look at Neil Dimmock in Canada I think Alberta with his big hitch. He travels all over the Place both CA and US. My wife watches some of his things on that facebook thing. The whole entourage would cost a good penny just to haul it around.

Wonder how many mules died trying to make turns with those things over the years. The videos where they show them trying to go around corners, and the mules toward the back trying to jump over the main tow cable.

Here's a link to the guy building the wagons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq41lsw_GLY&list=PL3Qu3GIvx73EgVa8dYcN_e9ps2BDMO9j3

I was awed by the wagon and tank wagon I saw in Death Valley last winter! I don't know how old it was but it made the CA trip worthwhile. No wonder it did not compete with RR and closer mines. Leo

When loaded the rig with two ore wagons and water wagon weighed 36.5 tons. The trip involved 165 miles.
