I guess each person has to do as they see best fit. Tedding hay is actually a very beneficial step in my opinion. I never see it as a waste of time to ted my hay. Gain at least one day in drying time, sometimes two. However, a good friend of mine feels the exact same way as you. Waste of time. So, I guess it?s all a matter of personal preference.

Please elaborate on that statement. There are thousands and thousand of round and small square bales of hay put up a year in my neck of the woods and I do not know of one single farmer that doesn't have and use a tedder. They must all be dumb azzes.

WGM is just almost always negative. There are some parts of the country where all they have to do to dry their hay down is throw the switch to shut the irrigation pump off. It is hard for those folks to understand how the rest of us do it.

Shiawassee county MI never have had a tedder, and never used one. I have had times when I might have used one. I have had to rake hay one extra time to get the ground dry enough to get the hay dry on the bottom next to the ground. Not sure a tedder would solve that problem since it would just cover the ground completely. This year it is drying down pretty good. Since it is late and old it drys down faster. Not my choice just been rain in the 1-2 tenth level so not going to cut then turns dry for 3 days then supposed to rain again. Most of the time it has been no rain so we are getting dry around here. Last decent rain was 2-3 weeks ago got 6 tenths.

(quoted from post at 15:58:48 07/04/18) Waste of time?? I enjoyed it. And it cost less than therapy!! Time and money well spent!
grandpa I'm the same as you the more seat time the better! I love cruising along with the sickle mower watching the hay fall, the best therapy in the world
