Wondering if anyone has used these to monitor there cows
breeding and what kind of luck they had. I walk through the
cows daily and thought it would help give closer breeding
dates

I used them on the dairy cows for years. Make sure you place them right, have the tailhead clipped before you put them on. IIRC there is a use by date with them...been 17 years since I had the cows. Watch for the typical signs of estrous as well.

I used them a little back when I milked cows. I didn't find them all that helpful. If the cow rubs underneath something and the patch turns red that is a false positive.

Watch the cows regularly 2-3 times a day and you'll catch most of the heats. Synchronization is more and more popular as well.

Never used them but my friend was one of 13 kids in his family ..... his mom and dad probably could have used a couple of packages.

I have used a similar type one year. Worked ok. I might want to use them again if I get my cows out on a pasture so far from home that I only get to see to them once a day. If you have some trees with branches they can rub their backs on I wouldn’t use them.

my bull figures it out too....I just wanted to get a better idea on breeding date as I start calving the end of February and sometimes it helps to have a date rather than trying to guess when a storm is coming and you are locking up cows....

Yup we used them on the milk cows back when. Been over 30 years. Seemed to work ok. Like already said though if they rub their back on something they will read false.
Sometimes if they get to rough housing with each other they will trigger them at the wrong time also.

Use these a lot. Work good as I work during the day so it?s nice to see if there is any action in the pasture. We A.I. Everything so heat detection is a big deal. We put them on about 45 days after calving and then a day or two before their next cycle. Use estrotect in the winter as they rub off too easy in the heat. After bred 30 days and no red kamar we blood test for pregnancy. False positives happen but you still have to watch for signs of heat and at what stage they should be bred.
