4430 front end

Been servicing neighbors 4430
And noticed when I was just skimming through the service manual notice that some of these tractor had was was called a regular front axle vs a wide front axle . Call me crazy thought that this tractor was wide front ended but I’m being told other wise argument wise. Want to see if someone had a 4430 with that type of front axle or what that type of axle was used for.

.

There were 4 types of wide frt axles offered on JD 4430 when they were sold new(narrow, regular, wide & hi-crop). I'll guess that over 80-85% had the regular wide frt end. The wide type was utilized for more than normal wheel width spacing.

Like TxJim posted the manual will only show wide front ends. Officially the Narrow/tricycle front ends was not offered on the JD 4430 but I do know of some JD 4430s that came with a narrow/tricycle front end. The difference between a narrow, Regular, and wide front end is the width of the center cradle. The part that the axle knees bolt too. It is just like stated there are narrow, regular, and wide spacing on them. The regular is by far the most common and the wide is the most rare. Might be a toss up between narrow and wide for number sold new. I just see more narrow than wide.

I just am confused on the different type looked up part number for the narrow and regular and wide front axle knee and they all looked the same except for the length also noticed that the axle weren’t the same either wanted to find out the verdict behind this
I’m just scattered brain as to what is what

And where would the casting number be located at for the center axle housing been trying to figure out where the number is

Is their any photo people can send me of a regular vs a wide front axle I have a 4440 that when I counted the knee extension it showed 19 holes on each knee I am just scattered brained on what is consider rare and basic front axle for these tractors
