I have a IH 574 with no ROPS and no canopy. Has anyone made something for this type of tractor with the square flat top fenders? Looking for ideas.

Our JD already had the ROPS, but I added this canopy, I had a local steel supplier cut and bend it, I believe it's 11 ga. I have since added 2 pipe supports in the front, makes getting on a lot easier. I should of done this right away when it was new 16 years ago! I do a lot of trail cutting in the woods and wanted the protection. Regardless what kind of fenders you have you need to attach it solidly to the axle, ACG has done a lot of this sort of thing, maybe he can provide some pictures.

Check with your state extension service. Some participate in a program that subsidizes ROPS.

Numerous canopies online. Run from about $100 up. One kind is an umbrella, square shaped that is held in place by a pole shaped like a question mark
that mounts to the rear axle. This might work for you. Try ASC for one source for that type.

I would check with the guys that used to make the Saginaw 3 point hitch. That is what they are making now and everything they do is top quality.

Saw the Saginaw ones but they stopped making and selling them

If you're wanting shade most factory canopies are way too tall, got one off a Hesston tractor its shorter and gives alot of shade. You can build one out of light angle and treated
plywood.

I have fabed up several 2 post canopies, and also a full cab for one of my tractors.
I always start the fabrication at the rear axles and build up from there. I have a good knowledge of physics, and the dynamics of geometry, plus being a seasoned welder, so I am confident that my structures will protect me, but the likelihood of being in a rollover situation is minimal.
Here is a pic of 2 of my 2 post canopies. One on a 4500# tractor and the other on a 8000# tractor. Big difference in the materials used, but both are firmly clamped to rear axles for strength.

If it is just shade you are looking for, and not ROP,
the you can buy a three bow shade , for about
$300.00 from many places. The one on my 1030,
has kept me out of the sun for many years, and the
1030 has flat top fenders like your IH tractor. I also
have a sun shade on my 730 Case that I bought
mail order from Gemplers over 20 years ago. Beats
sitting in the sun.

yea just looking for shade, Had a canopy on the 504 we had and it was great but it was easy to get to the axle to mount the poles, this one has high square fenders and no way to get to the axle without mods, Anyone know of a top fender mount shade

You could go to Tractor House and see how they have been done. A ROPS attaches UNDER the axle, then comes back out and up. There is also a hokie weather break from the UK. If you want to attach only to the fender tops use some fairly large bar stock to bolt to the fenders, in order to spread the stress, then come up from those with tube stock. I would not want the weight of a steel support and roof on those fenders. I would stick to a lighter unit like the umbrella type.
