OT, ants this year

Any of you notice a lot more ants this year. We always get some carpenter ants in the house in the spring when they get active, and usually a few real tiny ones in the kitchen. This year the tinies are all over the place, not in large groups but all the rooms. The large ones are still active in the house. Usually by now they're gone.
 
We had lots of the tinny ones around the coffee hutch and stove earlier this spring. they are gone now, but lots of the medium black ones in the flower gardens and on the driveway. Had a big nest of red ones in one of the garden boxes, but they got a heavy dose of Ortho bug killer and they are history.

Ya'll give me your address and I'll ship a bucket of fire ants to you. Give'um a month and I guarantee they will take you mind off the ants you have now.
 
We're also seeing alot of the tiny ones. Haven't had them inside for a few years until now. We were wondering if it had something to do with all the rain we've been getting here.

I'm in Maryland.
 
I have a bunch of tiny ones this year too, out in the dog's run. We called them sugar ants as back when I was growing up they always found the sugar jar.

On Fire Ants, I have been after them maliciously ever since they decided to invade my place and having them sorta (very loose use of the word) contained I find that the chiggers are everywhere. I heard that FA dined on chiggers. Must be something to the old saying.
