I start last Monday had 9 day of dry weather lack 8 acres of my own.2 field for others been wet until now.We are usually done by now.

Neat picture. We just got started last week. Mowed monday and tuesday. Just 10 acres a day. It made 50 bales of alfalfa to acre. Pretty good for us.

VicS, which dry state do you live in? We just got back from a trip to Colorado. Dry land farming is a different world from here in the east. My hay is 2 weeks past due and more rain forecast tomorrow. Then clearing the say.

I'm sorry. South Eastern Illinois. But it rained Friday nite. And has rained almost every day since. Think we have had 4 inches since friday, and forcasted to rain till Friday.

We are just finishing a beautiful stretch here in NH, but I am kicking myself for not getting my baler ready earlier. Due to problems last year I didn't mow much to start with and most of this good stretch went to waste. I was very pleased with the yield though for how dry it is here.

You are very observant. Yes it is. I bought
it used for $500, had set for over 20 yrs.
Wouldn't hardly take any hay, but knotter
(wire) worked perfect. The cam on the
pickup was completely worn out. I believe
that cam was the first thing IH stsrted
with building that baler! But a new one
was still available.

Cut June 4th and 5th......about 15 acres. 800+ bales...so just over 50/acre. 300 sold off wagons and 500 piled in barn. All of the hay was washed with .15 rain. Have 6 acres to cut....taking off Sat. for Brewers game so taking a break till next week.

Baled the first of mine yesterday. Disappointing yield, about 300 bales off 7 acres. I wish I had left the rakes set up to double windrows, took forever to bale, and my NH 269 makes poor bales with small windrows.

I would have baled it all Monday, but a radiator hose broke and shut me down.

Time for second cutting here in Ohio. Some first cutting being done and it looks terible, weeds and ripe.

Last week was the first time it was dry enough here so everyone was out cutting and baling hay that was way past due. I saw tractors and balers that haven't seen a field in 20 years everywhere I looked. The big boys had all they could do on their own so the smaller guy's had to go back old school. It was nice seeing the old equipment being used. Probably a third of the fields close by are still standing waiting on another dry week. Can't remember ever having so much rain as we have in the last six months.

Dad used an 1190 for over 20 years, even after buying it used. It paid for itself many, many times over.
Near the end, he had trouble with the cast ball/socket piece on the end of the sickle bar. Kept breaking off.
