yanmar 1500d

What is the good or bad for a yanmar 1500d 4wd tractor for light use? Have large tractors need something small. Also looking at a mf 135.

Go for the MF 135 or even a MF 35 with the Perkins diesel. I would stay away from the Massey gas tractors as they can be tricky to keep running smooth.

Those Yanmars are the best of the imports as far I'm concerned have had several and they were good tractors.I have a YM 330 that I have been mowing hay with for over 10 years real easy on fuel basically the same tractor as the JD 950.

I don't know about that model, but some of the early Yanmars had PTO that turned the opposite direction. The Oliver/White dealer I worked for had sold them before I started in '84, and they were the green ones. The Woods mowers, tillers etc. were specific to Yanmar because of the PTO rotation.

Funny how when someone asks about any other brand people point out parts availability and dealership support. Not with Yanmar.

I have never, not once, ever seen a Yanmar dealer or any equipment dealer that sells Yanmar, so even if I came across a Yanmar tractor, I would not know what to do if I needed parts.

Good point BarnyardEngineering. I have 4 JD, 4 Kubota, 3 N.H., 2 Kioti, 2 Mahindra Dealerships +/- within roughly 60 miles. And 1 Yanmar about 25 miles away. It being a long term and reputable company I believe that they stock well but before I bought one I would call them and just ask them how well. They are also NH dealer so one could ask how the 2 compare. IMO these other companies seem to have better dealer support from the manufacturers. Otherwise why wouldn't there be more Yanmar dealers. What dealers I've seen only carry them as a second or third line. That being said I probably would be cautious. I like Kubota but wouldn't buy one if the nearest dealer was 100 miles away and they had a lousy reputation. If you own a tractor and use it then it's only a matter of time before you will need a dealer. I've only heard and have no personal experience that they are a good tractor. I believe if they want to sell tractors at least in my area they need to boost the dealers presence.

Call Hoye Tractor they have about any part you'd ever need for a Yanmar, plus many JD Models are about the same as some Yanmars so you could buy from them too.
I've owned several Yanmars and never had a problem getting anything I needed. And yes there are Yanmar dealers one not too far from me in Staunton VA.

What I was saying, Yanmars are apparently so good that you don't need parts, because nobody seems concerned.

With LS, TYM, Kioti, or any of the other China/India/Korea tractor brands, everyone is always pontificating about "parts and service, parts and service, where are you going to get parts and service..."

There isn't a Yanmar ag equipment dealer within 300 miles of me. Yes, there's one listed but I know for a fact that they're strictly a rental place. They don't sell or service anything.

They (Yanmar) quit selling in North america because of the deal they made with every bodies favorite bully in Waterloo to have the green and yellow painted Yanmars the only ones imported. It is only in the last few years (early twenty-teens) that They have been selling for themselves again.

In case you ever have a need Holmes Equipment Rental has several locations around central Ohio. Been Yanmar dealers for quite a spell.

We have a 2001 JD 4600, with at least the engine made by Yanmar, over 1000 hours and haven't needed any parts. I use Delvac oil from L&M and get my filters at O'Reilly.

Well there are Allis Chalmers,IH,Oliver and other brands of tractors that there haven't been any official dealers around for years but there is a whole lot of them running.

You can find some parts on this site.
