Going to return the chapin garden seeder I posted about earlier I tried different seed plates still won?t plant corn tried to plant beans it won?t plant beans if the seed plate does pick up the seed it then gets plugged in the seed tube even at a slow walk . I guess I?m going to try and find an earth way like I had that thing would plant my whole garden in the time I tried to plant two rows with this thing

SVcummins- One of the few things I made sure to keep when we left the farm was my Earthway planter/plates. That thing has hardly ever skipped a seed in the 20+ years that I have owned it. Still has the original rubber drive belt.

Those earthway are a good machine . I bet I planted a million acres growing up with one of them and you?re right they do a good job

Glad you brought these little planters up. I have a Lambert golden harvest and have trouble with the opener on the bottom, it has wings that cover the seed before the wheel which is fine if the dirt is ground up like powder other wise it packs in a couple of lumps and I bury it. Do the other planters work that way or just drag a small chain across the back? I never have trouble with the tube plugging but getting close to cutting those wings off.

Been thinking about one of those myself. So far I keep talking myself out of it. Just don't plant the size of garden I used to and can't justify that much just for a seeder. I did just buy a new to me used tiller though.

Not as good a seed system a earthway but the disc opener is great. Would like to cut down a jd 71 planter unit for it.
