Saw this one on Craigslist, brings back memories when I was a boy and my Uncle had one, His ran like a sewing machine with the Perkins
Diesel engine. Wish I had a little cash put back and I would go give it a new home, it?s about an hour from me. There were a lot of these around
my area growing up, this one appears to be a survivor, anybody else got a story or own one? Seller is asking $2600
Rear tires backwards, was probably spread out at one time for two row planting and then rear wheels swapped to opposite sides to narrow it up

Hi Randy, allways wanted one, bought one last year and the wife claimed it. So this winter I restored it back to original for her and second time out she won first prize. The first tractor I restored for her was a 1950 David Brown Cropmaster but we had it stolen just after I had finished it.

That one is pretty nice looking, would someone explain why you see them painted with red wheels and grill sometimes, different year models?

I thought the orange wheels and grill were what they came with. Uncle Claude's was anyway.

Your probably right that it was orange instead of red, my Uncles had a white grill and white wheels.
But I believe I have seen some with red wheels in pictures of magazines at TSC (over seas tractors) maybe I?m wrong and color blind

After a little research, orange wheels is correct, but looking at many on the internet some of them are painted different shades that does look red, I guess owner preference?

I've got a super dexta. It's a decent little tractor. I really havent used it since I bought a Massey 65 with power steering. It needs a couple things finished up on it and I'll probably find it a new home.

There is quite a discussion about Dexta colours, as far as I know from working in the dealership, orange front grills were only used on a few of the very early tractors. I have pictures of new Dextas on our show stand in 1958 with silver grills. However all the tractors I have come across in Holland were supplied with orange grills.
Tractors sent to the US had a blue and Grey colour scheme usually, blue metalwork and Ford grey wheels. After 1963 the rear wings were also grey. All had silver grills. Somepre-1963 went over in blue and orange with silver grills.
This is my petrol Dexta that was sent to New Zealand and repatriated some years ago. The bars on the grills were fitted to all exported tractors be they Dexta or the Major range.

It's been a long time ago,but I'm gonna say it was around 58 or early 59 when my uncle traded for his. To the best of my recollection, the grill was orange same as the wheels. It's been repainted a few times since,so unless there are some old color pictures of it somewhere, there's no way to know now.
