Just a thought.

Son and I is thinking about trading our 706 IH,for a mini excavator or a bobcat back hoe attachment. The Tractor is like new and has cab, heat, wipers, newly re-upholstered seat new stainless steel lines, fused panel, draw bar,new front tires, good rear tires (not matched)new inner tubes,New cab fan(not hooked up),Lot of work but a swell unit and not junk.We don't use the tractor except for our garden tract.
Don't want junk items but we can re-do necessary work on either item. People who know us knows we don't have junk machinery .Granted our machinery is aged but great shape.Looking for close by so we can look items over and we can haul items home.If trade is made, it will be up to the new owners to do their own hauling. We are just thinking about trading and getting something we can use rather then having machinery setting waiting on garden usage. What do you folks think about such a venture?
Warmest regards, Lou & Victor.

Lou, don't know. Here a 706 just isn't worth much. Too small for the farms here and too big for most collectors. Highest priced 706 I've seen in a couple of years got 2800 at auction. Good rubber, ran well, diesel, nice tin, needed paint. Sure is different from a few years ago when guy could expect 6 or 7,000. Heck guys around here are running grain augers that require 100+ HP tractors. And a lot don't have livestock anymore so no need to rake or bale hay. Maybe in your area you can get what you are after. No harm in trying. Just wouldn't hold my breath.

That is a sharp looking tractor Lou. I don?t know what kind of value those little trac excavators have, and I sure don?t know the market for a 2 wd loader from the 60?s would be in your area. But you know as the saying goes, ? there?s a buyer for everything. Best of luck.

...I don?t know what kind of value those little trac excavators have,

Earlier this spring I bought a 2008 Hitachi ZX30 mini excavator with 3600 hours on it and pretty nice shape for $15k. Pretty much the going price in my area for the condition, year, and hours. I think you're gonna have to throw in a fair bit of cash with the trade.

They are fun to use and handy and I've almost got all the projects done that I had in mind when I bought it. I'll have to think of some more work for it.

The easiest way to find more projects that you need that mini excavator for is to sell it. As soon as it leaves your yard, a dozen new projects will come to mind.

Lou, it may help to tell about mechanical work that you have done on it. Anyone can see the exterior, they will want to know about the interior.

If I remember correctly, that tractor doesn't have a 2/3 point, only a hoop drawbar. Not sure if it has a pto or notTthat detail(s) pretty much slashes the value of a otherwise very nice tractor.
