Can anybody tell what hose end fitting or adapters I need to plug into my 1963 John Deere 4010?

I just bought it recently and it doesn't match with the field cultivator hose ends.

It's been so long since I messed with this kind of stuff I'm at a total loss.

What are the exact steps for hooking up the hoses?

Throw the lever down, Plug in and throw the lever up? Or just push it in?

You?ll need the old style jd ends, lever down and push in, then push lever back up to lock in.

Do you have a number for the end? Or a link?

I asked for that at Shoups and I think they gave me Pioneers

If I knew what I was looking for, it would be easier top know if they were giving me the wrong thing.

Would I be better off to just get adapters?

Thank you much.

Looks like the barrels need to be pushed/pulled out and the levers up then push hoses in then move the levers down. With JD tips, they have a taper on the end, not a shoulder.

OK did some more checking. It looks like the 5060-4 is the right end. I went down to look at the neighbors 4010.

I noticed that his insides were flush with the outside. I got a hook - hopefully I miss the orings and pulled the insides out flush. I have been using a lot of lubricating oil.

With the lever up I can push the end in. When the lever is then moved to full down, the hose end stays in.

If I pull on the hose, 3 out of the 4 will pull out. The lever moves up as the hose end comes out. Is there something maybe gummed up that is keeping the lever from holding in the down position?

If I move the lever up, it falls out.

Seems I remember as I first described. The the lever was up for operating. and that locked the hose end in. Not sure what I am missing.

Could they be pulling out with the lever down, just because the tractor is not running and there is no pressure

Mine seems to be working backwards. I can push the hose in with the lever up. The I put the lever down and as long as the lever is held in the down position the hose stays put. If you pull on the hose the lever will go up and the hose will pull out. Sometimes it stays. 1 out of the 4 stays all the time. The others are more miss than hit.

Any suggestions? I'm wide open!

If you pull hard enough the hose will indeed pop out. It’s designed that way for safety in case the hitch pin breaks and you lose the implement. As a wild guess it takes a 25-30 pound pull to do this, or in other words “a pretty good jerk on the hose”.

if the rest of your machinery has pioneer hose ends, a pair of these adapters will connect the hoses to the 4010.

that is what i use on my 4010.
