Went to the local grocery store today to pick up a couple of split, bone in, skin on chicken breasts. The only pack I could find was 'Organic, Non-Antibiotic, grass fed' and it was $16 for two!

I ended up buying two leg quarters for $3.00.

et the whole chicken, still hot, roasted for $5 at Wally-World. Just slice & eat.

It does worry me a little how you can sell a cooked chicken for $5.... Sometime I wonder if they aren't just sparrows from their lawn and garden section.

That's cheap. When we were in Germany I picked a pack of legs and there was 6 or so in it. COST 42.00 AMERICAN. Eggs were so expensive they sold them in packs of 2 ,4 or 6.

It because they were organic. Just my opinion but what a over priced joke. Just like synthetic oil. I am sure I will get beat up now.

If you can find a Sam's, their chickens are nearly twice the size of Walmart and stilll only $5, ready to eat. My family will eat the whole chicken and they say they are delicious, Since I only eat breast meat and no skin they are a waste for me, but for the others in the family it is a really good deal.

Only one food store in town, I'll wager. I was in Eatonville, WA the other day- went to the only supermarket, got my stuff to the front, they don't take credit cards! I haven't carried a checkbook in years, and barely had enough cash. I mentioned that this was the first supermarket I'd ever been to that didn't take credit cards, she didn't answer directly but implied it was because they had no competition, and could do what they want.

There are several big stores around here, lots of competition.

Wife does most shopping at Walmart, and the prices go up from there at the more exclusive markets.

But one thing they all do, try to sneak in the over priced "organic" stuff in the most prominent areas.

It's common for the regular stuff to sell out, leaving only the ridiculously over priced there for the desperate or inattentive.

I've found some organic packaged produce in the refrigerator a few times, asked my wife how it got there. She said they were out of the other. I told he no more, do without or go to another store!

e are pretty much the same way, but at that price, eat the white meat & toss the rest & still ahead.

Steve@Advance-I,too,thought they may be sold out but, all shelves were packed. No empty spaces.

About a year ago coming home I stopped at a Wegmans. A high price store to say the least. I just needed a few items and as I passed the meat counter my eyes caught sight of a rib eye hunk of meat. Almost $18.oo of juicy, eye pleasing, well marbled, yummy yum steak. Yes it went home with me. Cut it in half so as to get two dinners out of it. I will tell you... That was one incredable, tender, delicious hunk of steak. Somethings are worth the cost.

And yet as a farmer I can?t make a go of it without working every side job and every thing I can do to try and keep things going ? Who?s getting the money ? I know the USA spends the least amount of money on food of any country in the world but with prices like that I should be able to make a living farming

I run AMSOIL 100% synthetic in both my vehicles. Cost around $60 to do an oil change in my car which is good for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. If I changed my oil every 5,000 -6,000 miles as recommended I would end up spending more than $100 a year plus a few hours of my time every year.

I don't eat chicken anymore.
Country Pigeons {Mourning Dove} on my plate.
Pretty cheap.
Sometimes I can get 3 with one shot.

They say if you paint a circle around the ones you see on your way to town you will know which ones to pick up fresh on Your way home.

I will not touch anything labled organic, healthy, hole milk, no low fat stuff for me,low salt as I can feel when I an getting low on salt having been deathly sick years ago because I did not have enough salt in my body. In other words anything on the suposed to be healthy list no way, it is either just a rip off or will actually make you sick. If stores only handle that stuff stay away from them, put them out of bussiness.

You think that's high, what about this?

A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
Revelation 6:6 KJ version

or

?A loaf of bread for $20, or three pounds of barley flour, but there is no olive oil or wine.?
Revelation 6:6 LB version

Aldi's, the German chain, does not take credit cards or checks, and only recently will take debit cards. But it sure is a superior grocery store and they are expanding the four that we have in town to make them even better.

Not you! The store makes most of it. But even that's not much. 1.5% profit margin at a competitive grocery store. Who knows what % at the place with no competition! You need to go organic and sell for 5 or more times per unit compared to regular junk.

You know those irritating stickers on all the fruit? Some guy in SF came up with those to mark his blemished 'organic' fruit for the cashiers! His junk looking stuff was 4 times the price of the flawless fruit, but the cashiers couldn't tell what to charge without the sticker.

My local discount grocer gets $6 for a 2 pound roasted chicken. Costco and Sams get $5 for a 3 pounder. Yet when I buy a whole chicken to cook, all of them are at least 5 pounds and most 6+. It's only me, so I cut them in half and freeze it.

Hey Greg...Just came back from town and your split chicken breast here is $0.99/lb. Maybe you shoulda come north instead? *lol*

How about a look at the different specs of mineral or group III, group IV or group V synthetics .
