Tractors Disappear

One of the tornados that went through Wyoming yesterday destroyed my brothers house and JD tractor collection. Luckily, they were not hurt, some minor scratches etc. Lost everything except the basement walls. Strangest part, his tractor storage building and several antique tractors just vanished: nothing left but the concrete floor. As of this morning, they haven't found any of them. This is gonna be rough on them starting over: he's my older half brother and they are both in their 80s. Ten miles or so north of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Please add them to your prayers.

And.........Watch for falling tractors!

You know, seeing a sub-compact sedan disappear is one thing. Seeing a tractor disappear is something else. Scary! Best wishes for them.

Sometimes we all have a little setback and think it's the end of the world ...... and then we hear about stories like yours and our problems are not even a blip on the radar. Hope all goes well for everyone, that's a tough situation but strong families will get through it together hopefully.

Prayers sent.
Tornados can do some serious damage, we've had 2 come by our place but where lucky, only minor damage.
The big EF5 that came thru in 74 took a house off it's foundation not far from here, wasn't a board or even piece of broken glass within 1/4 mile of where the house once stood, they found the owner 1/2 mile away, he didn't make it.

Sorry for your brother's troubles and loses.

Tractors are very heavy, almost like rocks, they are very hard to move with just air pressure. I would check for tire tracks, they may have been stolen by looters.

I'm sorry for your brother's loss.

Not to add to the troubles, but tractors do not blow away. Even in a tornado. The sooner he reports this theft, the sooner the chances are he'll have a chance to recover them or find evidence of the theft.

The insurance company will not accept a disappeared tractor as "tornado damage".

So sorry to hear,, I had not heard there was any twisters down there, I heard around Casper was flooding bad,, again sorry for your brothers loss but Glad they are ok

I'd have to agree with the others. At best, the tractors would be tumbled, tossed and turned along the ground but not picked up and blown away. Should (possibly) even be able to see a trail in the dirt showing its path as it tumbled along. Someone has either picked up his tractor or it was gone before the storm.

Story my Dad told of a neighbor place hit by a big twister in Colorado, it picked up a LA Case, they found one rear wheel from it over 15 miles away never did find the rest, it also turned a house 180 degrees but left it almost on the foundation when it set it down,, it was heavily damaged they had pics of it at my grandparents place i seen 40 years ago,, it happens
cnt

I second the thought that they might have been gone for a while, when was the last time YOU saw them?

Sorry to hear of the major loss. There is more of the chance that they were taken before hand.Tho my family had a tractor hooked to a hay baler disappear during a tornado. They did find the remains of them weeks later and not close to home. Good luck

Hi There was a picture taken of tornado damage from one of the big famous storms and posted a few years ago on this very forum. there was a John Deere H or similar type that was restored by somebody in a yard that had got badly damaged, I think it was on it's side or upside down. The catch was the tractor and bits of shed with it didn't belong to the land owner where it was so it and the shed wasn't stolen before the storm L.O.L !.
Regards Robert

these people that are saying it can't happen have never seen what a large tornado can do. we had a very strong one on Palm Sunday 1965 and it carried a two bottom plow over two miles and spit it out in my uncles woods. not much area on a plow for wind to grab but it did.
