Due to cool weather and lots of rain our hay isn't turning off much on the first cutting.
So since our poultry houses where emptied out recently I decided to spread of chicken poo, cough, cough (ORGANIC FERTILIZER) on the hay ground

2-3 ton per acre should help produce some good second and possibly third cuttings.

Sometimes farm work just stinks, especially if you down wind of it

Talk about stink, I will agree with you. One of the worse jobs I had, (no the worst), was shoveling out chicken crp out from under caged chickens. The stuff was piled up to the cages. A friend of mine and myself took on the job for 50.00 each. I think there were four long rows. That was a lot of money back then. Stan

The hog operation near us has been hauling manure again and the wind is just right to carry the "scent" our way. They are a couple of miles away and smells like they are next door. Life in the country!

Apparently you haven't been paying attention here, nothing organic ever works if its not a chemical and doesn't comes in a bag from a factory you're kidding yourself and trying to starve everyone in the World by using it.

You better hope that?s some low quality stuff or you have your
hay field. On fire. You better spread it as slow as that spreader
will unload and drive at least 5 miles an hour

Dad always told the story of cleaning out a neighbor lady's chicken house. He was disappointed that his payment was a new bandanna and a pocket comb.

Yea at 3 tons per it's pretty hot, but litter is slower release and taking 2-3 cuttings off the field will pull a lot of it back out.
Going to pull some soil test this fall to see how much residual nutrients are left, that'll give me a good idea on what I can put on next year.
Last few years during clean out I've had a guy spread it for me, he was supposed to be applying 2 ton per but it seemed like he was getting done pretty fast, whatever I didn't use they sold, my bale count per acre has also been dropping each year.
This year I decided to cut a couple of fields earlier and spread litter on them myself, we'll see how it turns out.
