Many good things were said about Bad Boy zero turn mowers last week here on the site. TSC had one 60 inch zt elite,,but looking on line another one is made called the Maverick,,1000 dollars more.Which one do you guys have or are familar with?Any info will be apreciated,,thanks in advance for your thoughts

I have a Bad Boy MZ Magnum, it is ok, but I think the rpm need to be higher on the blades to keep up with the wheel speed. Also one side goes faster than the other. Other than that it is a good mower.

Back in 2012 I worked for a while at a place that sold Bad Boy. The ones at TSC were the two bottom models. When you went to the other models you got better hydrostats, thicker deck material etc. Also going to an actual Bad Boy dealer you will have at least one tech that has been sent to their Tech program and the dealer will get all the service updates.

They might be great mowers, but it goats me to pay $4999 for a mower when I can buy a tractor and a shredder that will last 10 times longer. But... still I have to buy a mower for around the house.

Like most manufacturers, Bad Boy makes mowers in different grades for different mowing requirements. The ZT Elite is a residential grade mower. The Maverick is a commercial grade mower. There are other differences too. I believe the Maverick has a suspension system that the ZT Elite does not. Do you need a residential mower for a normal yard, or do you need or want a commercial grade?

Mine is a Lightning Z, which is a commercial grade mower that weighs 1200 pounds and is built like a tank. It has 4 wheel independent suspension and a suspension seat, that I have never regretted paying the extra price for. I have been mowing 4 acres with it for 7+ years with nary a problem. It was an $8500 mower when new 8 years ago. I don't baby it, and it will probably out last me. I'm not rich and that was a substantial expenditure for me, but considering the expected lifespan of the thing based on performance so far, I consider it one of the best purchases I ever made.

Just be aware that when you call up the local "Bad Boy " servicing dealer to get work done on it. You will , understandably, be put on the bottom of the list. Ask TSC who their contract is with for service? Don't fall for the "box store" hype on this stuff. Ya think they even know what spark plug one takes ? Buy from a dedicated dealer who will answer ALL your questions. They sell Lincoln welders at Home Depot too. Go to the REAL welding shop and ask about that model number???? they don't even have it in their book....and for good reason....HD sets the price and Lincoln will build to their price and cut corners to do it and assign it a special model number. Happens with EVERYTHING anymore. Accept Stihl saws & equipment.

Had you bought your mower from your in town Bad Boy dealer that dealer would probably have provided excellent service.

I have an Elite and have been pretty happy with it for the last 5 years. I did add a suspension seat, that I got a deal on, early on.

So if Frankinfl has no ?in town? dealer for Bad Boy mowers does that make Frank?s dilemma his fault.
If I need a new Milwaukee right angle drill I have no ?in town? sales. I have no near town sales. The closest place I can walk through a door, up to a counter, and physically purchase a Milwaukee right angle drill is 50 miles away and has a reputation for poor service. How is that poor service the buyers fault?

Larry, I bought an 'Outlaw' two years ago. I'm nearing 70 and have never had a new mower and after being diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate Cancer I figured 'why not'? That mower has far exceeded my dreams; it's WAY better on hills than my old John Deere rider model 185 was and I don't have to fix the deck after every mowing job. That 'Outlaw' goes places where the Deere needed to be pulled out and with the suspension seat, it's actually FUN to operate. I got mine at an actual 'Bad Boy' dealer who told me that the other mower he handled (Ferris) had way more service problems than the Bad Boy. Since the Ferris cost more, that's what sold me (I'd been looking at Ferris locally).
