Getting LI front end back together and caster question

I should be ready to weld things up next weekend.

The owner cut the brackets off before I could measure caster angle, what do you think I should set it at?

Power steering or manual? It has been a long time but if I remember correctly, neg caster steers easier than pos caster.

The amount of caster will depend on the expected load on the front axle, and what the tractor will be most used for.

If it has a heavy front load, or if it will ever have a loader, I would put very little positive castor, maybe 2*.

If a light load, running a mower, or doing a lot of straight line driving, then more castor, up to 6-8* pos.

With manual steering you don't want much.

If you don't have power steering I would not go higher than 1 degree of positive caster. Most cars and light trucks run 1.5 to 4 degrees positive caster. There are some that run a lot of caster but it's not that common.

Hard to measure castor, but I got about 2 to 4 degrees estimated. I got 10 inches from the bottom of the axle to the bottom of the spindle. Let me know if you need more. Ron MN
