Never seen a skillet competition but can tell you I saw my Granny throw a cast iron skillet at my Grandpaw one time, missed him, I guess you could say she didn?t get any points for a clean miss, lol
True story, I was about 8 years old when it happened, he had been out gallivanting and hadn?t done some things she expected to be done, he liked his hooch if you know what I mean...

Ladies sign up and throw a iron skillet. Who ever throws is the farthest gets a trophy. Last show there was 15 in my wife's age group. She finished 4th. Not sure the winners husband is too lucky?!?

Free admission ......... when's the last time any of us went to something like that and got in for free? Our club charges $5 at our summer pull and that's a good deal, most charge $10 or $12 to get in the gate. Enjoy the day and have a good time !!!!

It is too bad my Great Grand Mother is not still around. She would be in the running for the skillet throw. LOL She was a very tall lady for her age/time. Well over six foot tall and husky too. I do not mean fat either. In the 1960s she would have been in her 50s. She would help with baling hay. She could throw a bale up into the barn like most of the men.

I posted on here about how she would split wood with "Her" axe. Grand woman that ran her house like clock work. Argued with her all the time when I was younger. Really miss her now. She has been gone now for over 25 years.

Wish I was closer to you. The show sounds like a fun time. Many around here are slowly dying. Many stuffy old men picking everything apart killed most of the younger people's interest in the shows. We have not taken a tractor to a show in over 15 years. A lot of trouble for little gain.

We enjoy the shows around here, the old guys are always amazed that my wife is our mechanic. Lol. We always have folks standing around talking. I let kids climb on the tractors for pictures. More than one adult too. I've even let an old guy drive my Ford around. Said he grew up on a farm with a 960 and hadn't been on one in years. Great memories.
