To those of you who have traveled MN highway 25 north out of Belle Plaine, have you noticed that the MN river crossing is HIGHER than the bottom of the valley.

In other words you are still traveling downward after you cross the river. How can that be, seems the river should alway find the lowest level in the valley.

Google maps of it shows the river has meandered through that area many times. There are cutoff sections of water within 1/2 mile of the bridge. The road has been constructed about 6 feet above the river water level in that area. The river is behaving (at least today). Jim

I live in rural northern Kentucky, and near me is a town/community called Milford. When you come into the town from the north ,you cross the north fork of the Licking river, and I swear that river is higher than the entire town! I guess it carved a channel,or the town area sunk below river depth, but river flows right around the town.Mark.
