Here in northern pa,a Baltimore Oriole is a very rare siteing, but one feeding on a hummingbird feeder is even rarer.

I saw one like that here in central KY day before. Then yesterday saw a pair of yellow ones. I have seen a lot of different birds that are not usually in this area lately.

Very nice photo. Some oriole species up here in Alberta apparently but I have never seen one I don't think. Mind you, there are lots of birds that I have seen not knowing what they were.

Here's some info ..... Three species breed in Canada. The orchard oriole (Icterus) breeds locally in southern Ontario and recently in Manitoba. Baltimore orioles (I. galbula), common throughout southern Canada east of Alberta, breed in scattered trees and open woodland. Bullock's oriole (I. bullockii) arrives in summer to southern BC and Alberta. Bullock's and Baltimore orioles were considered subspecies of the northern oriole but have been re-evaluated as separate species. Orioles winter from southern Mexico to Colombia and Venezuela.

My wife usually sets up several humming bird feeders and we have the orioles on them every day here in central MI.

We just had our first Oriole of the season at our pond here (AZ mountains). It may have been a Tanager though...

They do have a very distinct call. Loud too. You hear it and you know who it is. As a kid I got hold of a nest. All woven together like a little pouch.

Funny you mention this, I also have one on my hummingbird feeder, and so does a friend of ours, we are In Mi.

Rarely see them here in Central Michigan. But have had one or two over the years. Wife went out and got a feeder for them, but not successful.

We always have a few orioles around but this year they are more abundant than normal. Years ago I mounted a perch for them so they could use the hummingbird feeder. (NE Indiana)

I know a few people that feed them grape jelly---claim it is their favorite.

Something I didn't know until about 10 years ago_Orioles will drink from a slice of orange.I've been told that a feeder like a humming bird feeder is made for orioles.
