Power King at work

Saw this along a road near me. The man cutting grass said I could snap a few pics. Been at it 34 years, he said. Yes, the machine was slow but it got the job done.

Guy in our tractor club has a Christmas tree farm, thats all he will use
to mow around his trees. Has several.

I have a Case 220 garden tractor that I bought new in 1976 and it's still on the job.

My two oldest Cub Cadets are a 1965 and a 1968. I semi-retired them several years ago. Takes over 6
hours to mow with them, only 4 hours with the CC 982 super garden tractor, Cub Cadet Tank zero turn only
2-1/2 hours. Which one would you use?

I will say that 1965 Cubbie has mowed a LOT of grass, mowed two farm yards for eight years, then mowed
the larger one for another 34 years. The stock Kohler 7 hp engine was rebuilt once , replaced with an 8
hp, and it was replaced in those first 8 years.

Good shot of a couple of old veterans.

I have a Cub Cadet 86 (a somewhat rare model, only something over 8,000 made). My MIL gave it to me but it's been sitting in the barn with a burnt exhaust valve. It will be a retirement project to get it going again and mow with it occasionally.

I can't over-emphasize how slow this whole operation was. Any slower and he'd be standing still. But he did share that the grass was wet from the overnight storm, and probably had to keep his speed down to cut the grass properly. He said it cut much better when dry. It all looked good to me, much better than when I mow the lawn.
