Gleaner k2 selecting a corn head

I recently purchased a gleaner k2 and was wondering if I could run an A2-38 corn head on it or if it would knock over corn stalks , anybody have some wisdom to share.

Is your corn planted in 38" rows? We used to run an E [which is what evolved into the K2] in 36" rows. Shields helped to keep from running over any stalks that were leaning. You always wanted to work on the down slope side of the standing corn. Any mud, and you're sliding and running down corn. E had 16.9 tires too. Does your K2 have 18.4? Axle might even be wider? I know the wheels are different.

I run a K gleaner on 36 inch rows with no problems. My combine has 18.4 tires. The only time I run over a row is going around corners on the outside rows. Oh yea I run the 38 inch head.

I'd have to check the width and size of the tires. But my international 56 planter is set at 30 inch rows, which I'm willing to change over to 38 for this year if the A2-38 would work, also could I use a A3-30 head with a 4 row planter.

A K series with a 3 30 inch head makes a pretty good unit, you may want bin extensions if your fields are long.

The frame is different for a wide and narrow row planter. You will need a wide frame for moving 4 rows out to a wide set up. It would be less wated ground to go with a narrow head. Should handle 3 rows fine. We ran 3-30's on an E.
