OT Freihgtliner FL-60

The fuel gauge stopped working on my truck. I replaced the sending unit in the tank, but still no change. Gauge reads empty. When I turn the truck on all the gauges will peg counter clock wise then settle to accurate readings. The fuel gauge does this as well, but always reads empty. Anybody got and ideas where or what to try next. Thanks

The gauge sending unit in the tank supplies a variable ground. To check the gauge, gain access to the back of the gauge. Find the color code wire that goes to the tank sending unit. Disconnect this wire from the gauge. with a jumper, go from ground to that terminal on the gauge with a touch of the ground, the gauge should start moving to the F mark. If no joy, it is the gauge. If joy, it is a connecting wire to the tank with a break. Jim

I think, but am not sure that if the gauge indexes when the key is turned on (as stated in the post) that the fuse would be good. I think the gauges are supplied in parallel. Jim
