My Dad had bigger tractors,,but this is the last one he bought before he passed away in 1995.It is a Snapper mower. I kept it all these years in the shed here in NJ.

It sat in the corner of the shed.I did not use it much,,because I had gotten a walk behind scag,,and liked the exercise.

It sat for eight years since I last used it...This week I got it out, bought a new battery,,and fired it up.I had put stabile in the tank,,and was lucky ,it was not gummed up.

I have one just like it. It's on loan to my son. No where near as nice as your's though. Can't remember for sure but I think it's a 73.

Nice mower; looks brand new! Your Dad probably is glad to see you getting some use out of it. You are lucky to have such a good wife too!

Great pics (Yay - you got your new camera). Sure nice that you had your Corner bride helping you.

Man that is a sweet Snapper! Sure is in great condition.

We usually mow together too... but I was a bum today and went to rummage sales with our girls - then out for lunch. It was a fun day.

When I got home, my husband had mowed the whole building site... with two new mower decks he fabricated for our old cubs. I will have to get some pics to post one of these fine days. They both seemed to cut well - especially considering the grass was long and juicy from about 4 inches of rain this week. (Raining again tonight - so it's really good he got 'er done.)

got the new camera,,but having trouble,,its the same camera,,but posting is different,I am so dumb I cant figure it out,,the little girl put those pictures in the files for me...lately everything seems difficult for me ,I feel like as two year old

Snapper did it right back then. Note the I/C industrial/commercial engine. If you take care of it, that engine will run forever. But, the carbs on them tend to leak at the intake, and are prone to icing up. Make sure it has good gaskets on the intake, and you can duct some warm air to the intake pipes if you notice a lot of surging.

The deck steel is quite robust. It also has a clutch pack in the differential for an economical limited slip rear axle. It can be hard on belts if the pulleys get corrosion, best to keep in mowing regularly and by keeping it inside, they should be fine for a long time.

Well worth keeping up nicely.

Betting your body AND your brain are still recovering from chemo, Larry.

You'll get there... just keep on keepin' on, Corner Dude!

Wife/snapper story...

We were at a friends house party I noticed a old snapper rear engine rider out behind is shed and a new rider in the shed. He had just brought a new one I ask about the old one he said $100 would get it so I pulled out a hundred we loaded it up.

Party over wife jumps in the truck and ask are you working on the mower for J, I said know I brought it...

She said I mow with a pusher don't want a rider,,,, I said "I bought it just encase I have to Mow the grass :)

She became a rider...

Another Wife/mower story...

When I brought my first Zero turn she comes to the shop and said the mower will not GO I said what do you mean it will not go she said when I move it from turtle to rabbit it WONT GO!

I had to stop and go see what she meant buy Rabbit/turtle. When we got to the mower she worked the throttle and said see it won't go when I move it from turtle to rabbit... The clamp for the throttle cable at the carb had came lose... I think they put Turtle/rabbit on the throttle for wimmens... :)

Farther in-law brought a snapper like the one you farther had I worked on it all the time it was a worn out P.O.S. There was not much I did not have to rebuild then one day the drive line broke :) I was very happy so happy I never put it back together... I kept the engine and front tires then junked the rest.
