1971 International Harvester F 1466

I recently inhertited a 1466. It sat for the last 6 years even went through the Louisianna flood. My question is how should i wire the batteries on this tractor. I have two 6V's should they be in series?

The 6 volt batteries will wire in series to make 12 volts.

Or, if there is room, could use one 12v truck battery. That would be cheaper than 2 6v. The specs call for 172 AH or larger.

But before I bought a battery(s), I would see if it will turn over by hand.

Depending on how deep it was flooded, and if anything was done to clean it out, there may not be much left to work with.
