OT Kubota tiller

Anyone have any experience with a Kubota walk behind tiller. There is one coming up for sale. I don't have a model number only a lousy picture. I haven't found much information online about them. It looks fairly well made. I have a 20 year old light duty Husqvarna that's pretty worn out now. I just ran my uncle's brand new $1,000 Cub Cadet today. It did not impress me at all. It was difficult to run and a seal went out and spewed gear oil everywhere just as we finished. It was only the second time it's been run. I think for that money I'd rather find a better built older machine even if it needs some work.

It probably won't be a problem, but find a local dealer and ask him about parts availability for their older products.
Although, if it's well made, perhaps you won't need any.

O K here is the deal It is absolutely the finest tiller ever made. Sold a lot of them. Has independent steering clutches on each handle a small woman can run them. Problem is KUBOTA decided to quit bringing them to the united states along about 1976 or so. Most parts are still available IF you can find a dealer that has the parts books. The NEW dealers that have signed up in the last ten years only have computer parts and the tiller is not in that. USED ones bring a premium around here as all the Mennonites love them.

Thank you for the information jm. I didn't realize they were that much in demand. It will probably go for more than I can justify for my garden but it seems like a good enough machine I'll run it up at least. Maybe I'll get lucky. The sale isn't for a month so it'll be a while before I can give any update.

I have one, starts good with plenty of power, 2 speeds forward and tines
run in both directions, they are a nice tiller. Oh ya, the brakes work good also. small lady maybe can run one but they are heavy. FredWi

I like the idea of dual rotating tines. No one has ever mistaken me for being small or a lady for that matter so I guess no problems there. It is nice to know in a pinch my sister could run it if necessary. Thank you.
