Hi
My 1979 JD 300 is filling my oil pan with diesel OVER NIGHT! How is this possible if the engine is not running? I am stumped. She runs fine. I check the oil after running it and it is ok. The next morning when I pull out the dip stick is starts squrting out mix of oil and diesel (like a gallon and a half). Any help would be great.
Thanks

I don't know that tractor as such but form what I know of other tractor if it has a fuel pump on the side of the engine it could be bad and letting fuel into the engine or it could be a bad seal in the injector pump that is bad and letting fuel past and into the engine.

I agree most likley mechanical fuel pump has failed.

Just a couple of bolts to remove it then blow into the in fitting to confirm pump is toast.
On a failed pump you will get fuel or air when you blow coming out around the pump lever/arm that goes into the engine.

DON'T run it any more until you fix the problem (as others said, most likely the mechanical fuel pump- if not that then probably the injector pump, but don't mess with that yourself). The highly diluted
oil will not properly lubricate the engine, and you may ruin the engine. Only upside there is that you'd no longer need to fix the fuel pump.
