Does anyone know where I might find a "good set of fenders" for my 1950 JD "A" tractor? (round housing) I know there are "new ones" available. Thanks.

I have no isea and where I thought the flat top with built in lights would fit I found out yesterday they do not fit.

go on facebook and join " the john deere 2 cyl club of facebook". great site with over 45000 members. You can buy/sell and see everyones pics and get tech advice etc all free. Someone on there will have what you want.

I know they were supposed to be able to be used but all the ones at tractor show Saturday, was the new generation tractors tho had brackets that would not bolt on a round axle A, possibly a square axle a but I do not know. They might have had a bracket avaible with them when new to bolt on the older tractors I don't know. Just did not want him to buy a set from me saying they would fit in earlier post and finding out they would not. Any information welcome.

Yes- I was wondering about that..but I dont know so didnt say anything; the "clamshell" would be fine with me and I do know they make a bracket for the round axle- Ill keep looking- thanks.

I actually though about getting a pair of the earlier flat top Deere fenders and modifying them to fit the 41 Farmall H that just had the orignal fenders on that were more or less the clamshell type Because they did not provide the safty factor that I liked with the Deere fenders but traded the Farmall off before I got it done after owning it for 35 years. The Deere clamshell type do not have that safty factor. Knew a local man that has a older WC Allis with the style of fender that covered the wheel, he was out plowing one day and hit something, over the years I forgot what, but it bounced him off the seat so he was laying on top of the fender with the wheel turning underneeth him. A clamshell type will not provide that protection. And he was not hurt, if not for that style of fender he would have been under the tire. He was distance family.
