I have a Farmall B that I want to double check which direction
the oil seal needs to go? Does A or B go on the oil side?
Thanks

side B looks to be the side with the garter spring behind the lip. And if so it goes towards the oil

B goes to the oil side, the lip sticking out on the A side is a dust shield. On the oil side I like to a little bit of white lithium grease inside where the garter spring is so the seal isn't dry.

As Mike alludes to it is the side where you can see the spring. Since you can't see the spring in either pic nobody here can tell for sure.

The seal is similar to this drawing, and the "B" side with the crimped- in washer is the liquid-to-be-sealed/"garter spring" side.

You can see the crimped lip around the outside is his photo.
