I posted below about mechanical input needed on my TO35. The problem was the condenser which was recently new. Put a new one on and it runs like a charm again. I was thinking fuel since I had recently tuned it up. Thanks to all who responded. Saved me some $. Bill

I have not changed a condenser in years. Last time I did it was bad right out of the box so I no longer change them since a condenser almost never goes bad but they sure do make bad one now days

Anybody take one apart to find out the failure mechanism?

Surely the factories that build these were leftovers from when spark driven internal combustion engines were used on a large scale like in cars and trucks and all. So why is it that you hear of this problem all the time on here?

You have a metal shell, a plastic film with aluminum powder sprayed/glued to one side, rolled up with a terminal at the start of the roll for the center electrode and the outside touching the shell of the device which is open on one end only. Insert the slug, add an end cap, hermetically (glass) seal the cap and wala...you have a "condenser". What's the big deal?
